SEASON 2002/2003

SEASON 2002/2003

After a good 2002/2003 regular season, the club failed to go all the away and were well and truly defeated in the GF by the Vipers 43-11. D let in some early points that should have been stopped, and O just couldn't get going. A very disappointing end to what had been a great season.
One positive out of the game however was the number of fans and old players that came down to support the club. It was a great turn out and all the boy's really appreciated it, it's just a shame that we couldn't repay that support with a better result. We hope that this support will still flow over into next season as it was great to have everyone down.
The players and coaches would like to take this opportunity to thank all those supporters and ex players who came down to lend their support throughout the season last year, your support makes all the difference. Also a big thank you to all our sponsors who made it possible for the Jets to again take the field, as without their ongoing support the club wouldn't exist. We look forward to seeing everyone at the presentation dinner, see the event's page for details, and then after that the team will be gearing up for another shot at the championship in the 2003/2004 season so we hope to see you all then.

After a close call in the last game of the regular season with a come from behind 19-18 win against a pumped up Giants, the Jets showed what they can do by rolling said Giants 43-3 in the semi.
This sets up a GF showdown against the Rockingham Vipers this Saturday, 6.30 pm kick off.
With the last two games between both clubs having only 1 point separating them, with a draw in the first game and a 1 point win to the Jets in the second, both teams go in even favourites, possibly with the Vipers having the edge being defending champs.
This didn't worry the Jets 10 years ago when the club won it's first championship, and we sure as hell aren't about to let it be a factor this year.
But to do this not only will we need to be playing at 100% from the get go, we also need as many of the Jets faithfully who can get down game day to do so and support the boy's in this years championship tilt. One of the main reasons for the club's success has been the support we get game days and we really need it this weekend.
If you can't make it send us an e-mail, so the boy's know that even though you can't be there game day, your still behind us.
Win , lose or draw, everyone is invited back to Carnage park after the game to end the season with a bang, the way only the Jets can, so we hope to see as many of you down there as possible.

Week 1 Saturday October 12th Ashfield 1:30pm Steelers vs Jets, Lost 24 to 30 due to soft D. O had a good game, only fell over when trying to convert the extra points
Week 2 Friday October 18th Ashfield 7pm Broncos vs Jets, Won 33 zip. D made up for last week, O had fun.
Week 3 Saturday October 26th Ashfield 1.30pm Vipers vs Jets, 8 all draw. Both O & D showed the potential that this team has. O had a great 4th quarter drive to level the scores, and D had a great D line stand on the 1 yard line. Other than that a good hit out to highlight areas to be worked on.
Week 4 bye
Week 5 Saturday November 9th Ken Allen 4pm Jets vs Saints, Jets win 43 to 12, a win's a win
Week 6 Saturday November 16th Ken Allen 1:30pm Jets vs Titans, Jets win 49 zip with titans walking off before the end off the game, should make for some extra feeling when we hit out with the steelers next.
Week 7 Saturday November 23rd Ken Allen 1:30pm Giants vs Jets , Jets win 36 – 0, Both O and D played well against a good Giants side. While the score line may suggest a fairly one sided affair it wasn’t, this as a good hard fought win by the team.
Week 8 Saturday November 30th Ken Allen 4pm Jets vs Steelers. Jets win 38 zip A good solid performance from the team, with some strong drives both running and passing by O, and with D providing the highlight of the game with a great goal line stance from 1st and 3 to keep the steelers scoreless.
Week 9 Saturday December 7th Ken Allen 6:30pm Jets vs Broncos, Jets win 60 – 22, Good strong hit out from O, a below average effort by D to allow 22 points, needs to be improved for this week
Week 10 Saturday December 14th Ken Allen 4pm Jets vs Vipers, Jets win 17-14, Good solid performance all round by the team, showed signs of what we are capable of, and finished off by a field goal with less than a minute left to get the win. Still lots of room to improve before the finals but the win puts the club in top spot and looking red hot for the business end of the season.
Week 11 Jets vs Saints, Jets win 20 - 6, another hard fought game that was much closer than the score line shows.
Week 12 Jets Vs Giants Jets win 19-18, A good wake up call before we take on the Giants in the semi's. This highlights that we will need to be on top of our game if we want to make the GF.
Semi Jets V's Giants , Jets Win 43-3

GF Saturday February 1st 2003 - Ken Allen 6:30

Ken Allen Reserve is located at cnr Jeffery St and Shepherd St, Hilton. Near South and Carrington.
Ashfield Reserve is located at cnr Colstoun Rd and Haigh St, Ashfield. Off Guildford Rd.

Training is at Tregonning field, also known as Highview Park, Verdun St Nedlands, each Tuesday/Thursday at 6.30pm till approx 8.30pm.

This sees the Jets return to Carnage Park for the 2002/2003 season, being the Jets Official name for Tregonning, which was our home ground and training venue for the clubs first 3 championships and the whole club is looking forward to this renewed acquaintance bringing as much success as it did 10 years ago.

After a good second half to the 2001/2002 season and securing a spot in the finals series, the Jets were unfortunately beaten by the Vipers in the first semi final.

This brought to a close the Jets tilt for another championship this year, however with the number of rookies that joined the club last year having now had a taste of what is needed to win finals games, the club is looking in red hot shape for the 2002/2003 seasons

We look forward to seeing you all again this season
